Visit of the USAF Secretary

The Secretary, USAF HON DEBORAH LEE JAMES visited Basa Air Base last 23 August 2016.

The DV and party arrived at Headquarters, ADW last 23 0900H August 2016. The DV and party had a dialogue with the Commander 1AD, Wing Commanders of ADW and 355th AEW, Commanding Officer, AFRDC and ADW Unit Commanders and Staff at HADW Silid Elum. The ADW provided briefing for the DV. The briefing focused on capability upgrade programs, the MDB-SEB activities for 2016 and EDCA Related Projects. Also, presented were the following issues and concerns which the USAF may be able to support the Wing:

Multirole Fighter Aircraft (F-16 block 50/52)
Precision Guided Munitions
Ground Based Air Defense System
Fighter Pilot Training Exchange Program
• Simulator Training
• Centrifuge Training
Air Defense Related Subject Matter Expert Exchanges

After the dialogue, windshield tour within BAB followed. Along the route, the GOH conducted tree planting and photo opportunity.

Lunch was served at the BAB Officer’s Club with entertainment from the Nayong Filipino Foundation. They perform three (3) dances Bulaklak, Sayaw sa Bangko and Tinikling which was participated by the USAF party. The activity culminated with a presentation of memento to SECAF. The DV and party departed BAB on-board same vehicle for CAB.
HUMAN RIGHTS SEMINAR

The ADW conducted Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law Seminar to thirty five (35) military personnel and five (5) civilian employees from the different units/squadron of this Wing last 22 August 2016. Thru the support of The Philippine National Red Cross Region III, City of San Fernando, Pampanga with Mr Kim Patrick V Sarmiento and Mr Ryan Montales as resource speakers. The activity aims to provide the military personnel of this Wing the knowledge and awareness on Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law. As it is mandated to every AFP member who is to protect the sovereignty of our country and people, the attendees were successfully educated and encouraged to advocate the Human Rights and the International Humanitarian Laws in the performance of our mission.
CHANGE OF COMMAND

The Air Defense Wing held its Change of Command Ceremony at 431st Field Maintenance Hangar, Basa Air Base, Floridablanca, Pampanga on 12 August 2016 with the Commanding General, Philippine Air Force, LIEUTENANT GENERAL EDGAR R FALLORINA as the Presiding Officer. The baton of leading the country’s Air Defense was passed to COLONEL GERALD S DA-ANTON PAF (GSC) from BRIGADIER GENERAL ENRIQUE C REYES AFP who took command of the 1st Air Division based in Clark Air Base, Pampanga. On his speech, COLONEL DA-ANTON thanked the Command for entrusting him a great responsibility of protecting the Philippine skies. As one of the vanguards of territorial defense, the Air Defense Wing will continue to support and do its mandated duty in line with the present Command Thrust of LTGEN EDGAR R FALLORINA AFP. The Air Defense Wing and its newly installed Wing Commander will continue to serve the country and the Filipino people.
